Instructions to prepare Barbeque Bone-In Hams

Fully cooked, ready to eat, Frick's Barbeque Ham is a family favorite! Put a spin on your cooking routine and try a Frick's Bone-In Ham on the grill. Since we cook our hams with natural juice, you don't have to worry about losing flavor during this cooking method. It's simple to prepare, and perfect for a group.

Product: Any Frick's Bone-In Ham, below are a few recommendations.
Frick's Bone-In Portion Ham (Butt or Shank)
Frick's Bone-In Half Ham (Butt or Shank)
Frick's Whole Supertrim Ham (requires double the charcoal)

Heating Instructions:
Optional: Rub ham with your favorite dry rub prior to placing it on the grill (our favorite is a garlic dry rub)
Optional: If you'd like to add a BBQ sauce, we recommend glazing the ham every 20 minutes.
Time: Grill for approximately 15 minutes per pound.

Charcoal Grill: Light 5-7 pounds of charcoal. Once the charcoal turns gray, using a tool shift the entire charcoal pile to one side of BBQ pit. Replace grill grate, then place ham on the grate on the opposite side of the charcoal. Cover with lid. Important: All vents must be fully open for the ham to cook correctly (check top and bottom vents).

Gas grill: Light one side of grill, to 350°F. Place ham on the grate on the opposite side of the heat. Cover with lid.

Serving Suggestions:  Serve ham slices on a bread bun with BBQ sauce. Great sides options are classic baked beans and potato salad.
